Tips for Coping with the Coronavirus Pandemic

During this stressful time when routines are altered and we feel more isolated, here are some reminders for positive coping.

Relaxation

Meditation

o Headspace app

o Loving-Kindness Meditation

Identify other personal relaxation activities that are healthy:

o Exercise, walk, get outside

o Reading

o Hobbies

o Creative efforts that allow for flow (being invested and fully engaged in what you do)

Connection

While we practice social distancing, there are other ways that we can still engage with others. Possibilities include calling, texting, Facetime, writing cards, and online interaction. Reach out to loved ones!

We can also find appreciation in the increased family time that we have while we are at home. While aspects of this can be stressful, it can also be special.

Appreciation

Practicing gratitude is strongly connected with elevated happiness. Write 3 things that you are grateful for each day. This can be particularly important during times of high stress when the worry and news can overtake everything else.

Do something for others (you feel the benefits as well!), and recognize beauty around you.
